Music that doesn't suck: Chrometrails

I've been on a serious Electronic and Hip-Hop instrumental kick for the past few months, and have come a cross a few really great Artists/Albums. Today I'd like to shine some light on "Chrometrails" by Vanilla (Hugo Harrison), who hails from Oxford, Southeast England (Yea, they have Hip-Hop in England). I've been bumping this for about a month now, it it still hasn't gotten old (Beta Blocker and Second Guess/Low Density stay on repeat). Here's the producers description of the album:
Chrometrails is the culmination of months of hard work, taking the final form of a 13 track instrumental hip hop album entirely created and produced by Hugo Harrison (a.k.a. Vanilla). Drawing from influential alternative hip hop producers such as Madlib, J Dilla, Flying Lotus and Prefuse 73, infused with his own particular brand of production, Chrometrails is a showcase for a range of conceptual and compositional ideas and production techniques. And hopefully it will have your head nodding.

I'd highly suggest you give this album a listen or two. It can be downloaded here (legally) for free. And if you're interested in checking out his other stuff, he's on MySpace, Soundcloud, and Tumblr.

  2. I can't believe Vanilla still has fans after the "Cool as Ice" debacle.
