Bruce Leroy decides it's better to be the season douchebag than a lovable underdog that he could have been. He fucks with his own teammate's clothing. Wuhoh. GSP is wearing his Under Armor spandex shorts. He's brought in a Muay Thai trainer from France who is hammered ass drunk. John Danaher explains it could be amazing or terrible so don't try and fuck with the dude. He has legit skills and is beating the shit outta these guys. Jesus Christ he's hammered.
Back at the house Bruce Leroy is running his mouth to Jeff Lentz about how he doesn't care about being hated on the show. He has pissed off his own team which should be interesting for the rest of the season. I'm honestly trying to get excited about this and may be trying to convince myself things get less boring.
Fight selection time and Spencer Page is taking on Nam Pham. George Lazenby explains that Spencer is one of the better athletes on Team GSP. Nam Pham is a nerd. BOOORING. Pham is running all the time and is making everyone else look lazy as shit. Spencer talks about how he has hard shins while watching Nam run. Team GSP training sesh! Shit was boring and didn't really offer much besides GSP talking about how good Spencer is. I dunno, guy looked slow. WOOOHOO!!! Trailer for Blue Mountain State! OOOOOOWWWW!!!
Georges is taking a piss and Koscheck arrives. Cody is talking shit to Koscheck and Koscheck has a shit eating grin on his face while saying "This ain't Alaska homie". Pham is super Asian. He does throw everything with power though which says a lot about his standup. He definitely looks impressive hitting the mitts. Chuck Liddell appearance! He's got the respect of everyone in the room, Koscheck included. Things are getting serious though, he's being completely honest regarding his career and retirement. He breaks down why he can't walk away and it's a rare serious moment on a show that rarely shows the human emotion side of these fighters. I imagine this is what it will be like when guys like Wand and Big Nog decide to walk away, they'll have the respect of every young fighter and will have the same emotion.
Josh Koscheck decides to say to GSP that if he kisses him, he will retire from MMA. He doesn't say no homo. It's pretty awkward. Koscheck gets to meet Garbowsky who is drinking vodka lemonades and asks how rehab was today. Garbowsky looks at the camera with a drunken look and brushes off the comment.
FIGHT TIME! WOOO Arianny's negative butt! OOOOOOOOWOOGA!!! First round is pretty one sided with Spencer lighting Nam up but a takedown with 1:40 left in the round leads to some solid ground and pound. If you include the punches that hit Spencer's arms. Nam finally stacks Spence and works a Kimura with 20 seconds left. It's the one submission that asians know at birth along with their solid Karate. It was very deep and Spencer walks to his corner in noticeable pain. I got this 10-9 Pham.
Round 2...seriously where is Arianny's butt? She honestly has none. Round 2 starts and Spencer is very tentative. He's getting picked apaaht and is eating a ton of punches and kicks to the ribs. I feel bad for Spencer since he's just a moving punching bag at this point. Can they switch back to Arianny's no butt? It's far more interesting than this fight. Koscheck gets his first win of the season and his team goes ape shit crazy. Turns out Spencer mangled his shins and broke his hand. He has nothing to hang his head about since Thai kicks do start to add up even if you're the one doing the kicking.
Show ends with Team Koscheck banging on the walls in the biggest douchebag moment of TUF12.
At least next week we have 2 fights. This shit is really boring when neither coach is interesting and the most marketable fighter on the show has opted to play the heel.
I was in awe of Jean-Charles Skarbowski, I was hoping that he was going to get irritated with Kos....let down...
ReplyDeleteI don't even have the words for the sadness I felt when I saw that there was going to be another season of Blue Mountain State. It was like Baby Jesus shit on my soul.
ReplyDeleteSerious statement alert: I think Nam's first round should be a 10-8 round. When a fight is about 3 seconds away from being stopped, and the fighter cranking on a submission has also won most of the round it's gotta be 10-8.
ReplyDeleteAnyone else hoping the room with Jeff and Bruce would suddenly erupt in to flames? I know I did.
Edub, I had it 10-8 last night but rewatched it today for 10-9...3minutes of getting beat up makes it a 10-9 round.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think those first three minutes make it 10-9 as well.
ReplyDeleteYea I rewatched it last night too. For me it'd be hard to argue either way. You could argue that he was losing the first 3 minutes bad so 10-9, or you could argue the last minute and a half was a complete beatdown which was punctuated by a submission attempt that was 2-3 seconds away from being a finish.
ReplyDeleteI'd still have to give it 10-8.
In case anyone still cares.
